When decoration becomes eco-responsible

One can love decoration and be a citizen who is committed to a more responsible consumption for nature and its inhabitants. Consuming less but better quality products, with an interest in their origin and their manufacturing process. More and more people share these values, to the point of making it a new decoration trend: responsible decoration! What about you? Since 1847, we have been creating, producing and selling linen bedlinens and our NOUVELLE VAGUE collection is the result of our eco-responsible commitment. We tell you how!

LINEN, THE BEST CHOICE FOR A RESPONSIBLE DECORATION

FLAX IS SUSTAINABLE IN THE ECOLOGICAL SENSE

Flax is the most ecological fiber because it does not require watering (unlike cotton which is very greedy), nor fertilizer, nor pesticides. It even contributes to enriching the soil. The entire plant is used, from the seeds to the straws: there is practically no residue.

Linen fits perfectly into the philosophy of "cradle to cradle" production, which encourages the total recycling of a product, without adding renewable energy to the cycle. And our bedding is almost entirely recyclable!

Our carbon footprint is very low, since our long fiber flax grows in France, along the coasts of the English Channel and the North Sea.

FLAX IS HEALTHY

Responsible decoration begins with the choice of quality natural materials. At Alexandre Turpault, we sublimate the nobility of beautiful materials and favor natural origins, guaranteeing a rich sensory experience. Our linen is remarkable for its long fibers which give it exceptional climatic qualities: airy, absorbent, non-allergenic, non-irritating to the skin.

LINEN IS DURABLE OVER TIME

Linen is the only natural material that becomes more beautiful with each wash: it becomes softer and softer. It lasts a long time like the beautiful linen we inherited from our grandmothers, as long as we take care of it with gentleness and common sense. The colors can be washed up to 60°C in machine.

AN ECO-RESPONSIBLE KNOW-HOW TRULY MADE IN FRANCE

We have obtained the Label Origine France Garantie since the entire production process is done in France. For this, we have replaced the Italian guipures by pretty stitched ruffles.

From our head office, our linen is cultivated 150 kilometers away, woven 400 kilometers away in the Vosges, dyed 5 kilometers away and made in our workshops. This short production chain, 100% French, contributes to the local economy and to the well-being of the inhabitants of our territory.

A QUALITY WEAVING

For more than 20 years, we have maintained the same high quality with 100% linen, made from our MAINE fabric, with the right density of threads and the ideal weight for bed linen (170g/m2). Thus, our linen is light, flexible and resistant. This quality fabric is piece dyed with dyes and pigments authorized by the Reach standard.

WASHED LINEN

Nore linge NOUVELLE VAGUE, long rinsed in clean water, is now "tumbled" - i.e. put through a machine that beats the fabric to naturally soften the fiber and give the fabric a supple appearance. We do not use any chemical products or fabric softeners, which prematurely wear out the fabric and sometimes coat it with silicones or fatty acids from petroleum (not really the healthiest thing for the skin...).

... RIGHT DOWN TO THE PACKAGING!

To go all the way, we have removed all plastic: our bed linen is wrapped around recycled cardboard and held together by real laces (which can find a second life on your shoes!). The back of the insert is a beautiful black and white photograph of a field of linen that can live in a nice frame to embellish your interior decoration, now responsible!

RESPONSIBLE DECORATION, EVEN IN THE MOTIFS

To be eco-responsible in decoration is to signify one's commitment in the smallest details. Through the wonderful world of interior decoration, we wish to convey an ethical, ecological and responsible message: that of living in harmony, together and with nature.

REFER TO HISTORY TO CHALLENGE

Historical reference has always been a dear theme. Throughout history, humans have never ceased to claim the hope of a better life together, like the Trojan War where brotherhood won in the end. This is why our Spring-Summer collection was called "Le chant du Monde". This name freely refers to the work of Jean Lurçat (1892-1966), painter, ceramist and creator of tapestries whose visual impact strongly conveys the message of human brotherhood and harmony in nature. A contemporary of Giono, these two "mountain men" share the same taste for powerful metaphors, the sensitivity of a poetry that is more sensual than cerebral and an intense feeling of fusion with nature.
